The E-Commerce Category Page

The category page is a page that allows your visitors to navigate to the products that they desire to purchase.

Some of the time there will be no products listed on a category page, just lists of subcategories of products.

Other times there will be lists of a very specific type of product that people can purchase.

The category page is often the page that search engines will decide have the most relevance on your site for a search term. For example, lets say your have a category page that shows your inventory of 'winter fur covered hats', when a shopper uses a search engine to search for 'winter hats', the search engine very well may bring the customer right to your 'winter fur covered hat' category page. Which is a good thing, the search engine has qualified your customer, so that you have a good chance to make a sale.
